Olmstead Loop Trail - January 18, 2014
This is a 8.6 mile loop in the Auburn Recreational State Park, starting in Cool. The trail is easy to moderately-challenging with some short steep sections. It parallels Hwy 49 on one side and the American River Canyon on the other, passing through open, rolling hills with several species of oak trees ( and wildflowers in spring). It also includes steep canyon descents and climbs as it crosses Knickerbocker and Salt Creeks. Afterwards we will have lunch in Cool at the American River Pizza and Grill.
