Mount Judah - July 21, 2018
This month we'll do a moderately strenuous 5.8 mile hike in the Sierras - near Sugar Bowl Ski area off of Hwy 80. We'll have a great view of Lake Mary and Donner Lake. The climb involves rocky terrain in some places with steep steps and elevation gain of 1200' to the top peak of 8200'. We'll do the loop in reverse and have our snack at the rest stop at Roller Pass. There you'll read about the pioneers using logs as rollers under the wagons to pull them up the steep slope. We didn't see any poison oak but were rewarded with a wide variety of beautiful wild flowers on the pre-hike in June. After the hike, we'll drive across the road to Donner Ski Ranch Bar and Deli. They have a variety of salads, sandwiches, and fresh-made pie.
