Empire Mine State Historic Park Loop Trails - November 16, 2013
Empire Mine was in existence for more than 100 years and produced 5.6 million ounces of gold. It was one of the oldest, largest, deepest, longest, and richest gold mines in California On the grounds of the State Park, we will walk two gentle loops that feature old tailings piles, abandoned mine shafts, stamp-mill foundations, and a pleasant walk through a mixed oak and conifer forest. Afterwards we will lunch at Akida.
